In Between the Beats - Poetry Book
I was so intrigued with the poetry my friend Shaynee Sherwood was writing at the time and it seemed to be the perfect opportunity to not only showcase her brilliant work, but also display my love of illustration. The poetry I was working with at first seemed very upbeat and pleasant, but upon further analysis, the poems have a darker and more melancholic tone to them. Based on the poems "feel" I decided to create the illustrations with a kind of "dream-like" quality to them. By doing this I believed it helped portray the poems and how at first glance they seem happy and joyful (as in a dream), but then you wake up and realize it was all just a dream, hence the darker undertone.
